We are excited to announce the Chestermere Recreation Centre is officially re-opening on July 2 for all indoor and outdoor bookings. As previously stated, the outdoor baseball diamonds and soccer fields are open for reservations, and now beginning July 2 the Blue Arena and the north side of the facility (the main hall, curling dry pad, north meeting rooms) will be open for rental.

In order to keep all users and staff safe, the CRCA has developed rules and guidelines for indoor and outdoor use of the facility. We ask all members and guests to review our new operating standards prior to visiting the centre.

Chestermere Rec Centre Steps Away from Opening

June 12, 2020

The CRCA is excited to learn the City of Chestermere and the Alberta government are progressing to Stage 2 of the Re-Launch Strategy, including sports and recreation services and community centres as of Friday, June 12. We are just as excited to launch into our new routine as you are, however, we must take our time and do it in a way that is safe for our members and staff, and in a way that makes operational sense. We are re-evaluating our prior plans and adjusting our operations much sooner than anticipated. By re-hiring staff and ensuring proper safety protocols are in place, we’ll be able to confidently re-open when the time is right.

Only our baseball diamonds and outdoor soccer fields will be available for bookings beginning Monday, June 15. The remainder of the centre requires a more thoughtful approach and will take more time. We anticipate the north half of the facility (the main hall, curling dry pad, north meeting rooms, and the Blue Arena) to open in early July. The remainder of the centre (the Red Arena, training facility, MPP Room, Whitecappers Centre, and dance studios) will open on a staggered basis after that, depending on the construction progress of the Red Arena roof, which is currently well underway. We anticipate construction to be complete mid to late summer.

For the time being, our business office will continue to operate off-site, and those wanting a site visit are encouraged to schedule an appointment by contacting admin@chestermerecrca.com.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, the CRCA has made the difficult decision not to run any CRCA led recreation programs, including day camps, until at least the fall. Instead, we will focus solely on filling the capacity of our rental spaces. The CRCA still plans to run out of school care in the fall, depending upon what the province dictates in its return to school plan. Watch for more details on this coming soon.

We thank everyone for their continued support and patience during this extraordinary time, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to our facility before you know it! Stay tuned to our website for further updates.
